Julia Eckhard
Postdoctoral Scholar in Chemistry
Julia employs a sociocultural perspective to investigate how instructional components, including instructors’ facilitation practices and task design, influence students’ epistemic agency and reasoning. Julia’s research aims to uncover implications for teaching and learning within activity systems, such as whole-class discussions. Further, she designs instructional materials, such as scaffolds, and researches their impact on students’ problem-solving, particularly in contexts like organic synthesis courses.

Kaitlin Gili
Postdoctoral Scholar in Computer Science
Probabilistic models and information theory as tools for understanding sense-making.

Robert Hayes
Postdoctoral Scholar in the CEEO
Robert studies the dynamics of learning in science classrooms, including the role of student perception of learning spaces (framing) and students’ creation of scientific practices in the pursuit of their own investigations.
